BUCKINGHAM residents are preparing for a summer of fun and entertainment after the town council unveiled the town's calendar of events.
Music events kick off on Sunday, May 24 with Music in the Market. It is now in its ninth year and will see local bands including The Red Bullets and the Scholars playing live music throughout the afternoon in the Bull Ring.
On Sunday, June 21 the
Shaun Winter Marionettes will be keeping children entertained during the Teddy Bears' Picnic outside the Parish Church.
As a prelude to the picnic there will be a best dressed teddy competition outside the Old Gaol on Saturday, June 20.
Buckingham Festival Fortnight takes place between Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 19 and features a variety of classical concerts and recitals organised by the Buckingham Summer Festival group, Buckingham Choral Society and The Orchestra of Stowe Opera.
For the first time the University of Buckingham will be getting involved with their production of Trial by Jury, and children from schools across The Vale of Aylesbury will be performing Lord of the Flies at The Buckingham School.
As usual the finale of the season will be local bands rocking the town centre during Band Jam on Sunday, August 30.
Cllr Robin Stuchbury, chairman of Buckingham town councils event committee thanked all the groups who help put the programme together.
Cllr Stuchbury said: "I love coordinating these kinds of things, I get a great buzz out of seeing people in the town centre enjoying themselves.
"The committee and I will be working with many organisations throughout the season to provide the town with some great entertainment.
"Between them there are so many different things going on I really hope the people of Buckingham take the opportunity to enjoy some or all of the events."
