AS the Birling family celebrates the engagement of their daughter Sheila and her fiance Gerald Croft little do they know their lives are about to take a sinister twist.
Dressed in their finery and enjoying all the trappings of their opulent lifestyles, they remain oblivious to what lies ahead.

Then there is a knock at the door.

Enter the mysterious Inspector Goole, an intense, imposing man, who is investigating the death of a beautiful young woman called Eva Smith.

Through clever questioning he slowly but surely unravels the lives of the main characters, leaving no sordid corner of their existence untouched.

But while the identity of Eva Smith remains a riddle one thing is certain – the lives of the Birling family will never be the same again.

An Inspector Calls, currently showing at Milton Keynes Theatre, is a classic spine-tingling thriller which has just the right amounts of intrigue, suspense and wit to keep the audience on the edge of its seats.

The cast is fantastic, particularly Louis Hilyer as Inspector Goole, who makes you feel fantastically uneasy from the moment he steps onto the stage.

It's impossible not to be captivated by this mesmerising performance, which entertains and thrills in equal measure.

The show is at Milton Keynes Theatre until Saturday, May 2.
