FOR August, The Film Place is presenting a series of classic family films and memorable movies.
We think they can be revisited time and time again and give pleasure to all the family regardless of age.

For these films, we are offering a special family ticket – two adults accompanied by two children can purchase a ticket for £10.

All films will be screened on Sundays at 5pm.

On Sunday, August 3, National Velvet (1944) is being screened.

Pirate is an unrideable horse but when Velvet Brown (Elizabeth Taylor) wins him in a lottery, she proves that, with patience, endeavour and determination, the dream of winning a Grand National can come true.

She is aided and abetted by ex-jockey Mike Taylor (Mickey Rooney) who, having had to abandon his career after a serious accident, has dreams of his own to pursue.

Films showing for the rest of August are: Swiss Family Robinson (1960) on Sunday, August 10; The Parent Trap (1961) on Sunday, August 17; and To Kill A Mocking Bird (PG) (1962) on Sunday, August 24.

All films are being shown at the Ian Fairbairn Lecture Hall, Chandos Road Building, University of Buckingham.
