CRICKET fans in Syresham will be barmy to miss the local team's match on August 10.
Syresham Cricket Club will be playing against England's Barmy Army team from 1.30pm as part of the Barmy Army's roadshow, which is currently touring the country.

At 10am Syresham's under 18s team will play the Barmy Army Colts in a Twenty 20 match, where each side bowls 20 overs. The roadshow day will include an appearance by former England player Dean Headley, a merchandise stall, music and cricket stalls. There will also be a raffle, an auction and an all-day bar and barbecue.

Adam Jeskins, from Syresham CC, said the club had played the Barmy Army in 2006 and invited them back.

He said: "The Barmy Army does a great deal of fundraising for charities.
"We know a couple of people who play for them and we asked them if they wanted to come back and they said they'd love to. They are doing this roadshow for the Chance to Shine charity."

The charity is working to help bring more competitive cricket back to state schools.

Mr Jeskins said he was expecting more than 1,000 people to turn up.
