TOWCESTRIANS Ist XI picked up a draw and nine valuable points after fighting to save the game against Brigstock last Saturday (19/07).
After winning the toss and putting Brigstock into bat Tows made a decent start taking three early wickets. However despite the best efforts of the Tows bowlers, Brigstock managed to score a total of 201-9 from their 50 overs, thanks in the main to Ph
il Caswell (93). David Williams (4-45) and 13 year old Cameron Emerson (4-28) bowled well for the visiting team.

Tows got off to a great start in reply reaching 75-0 from 17 overs thanks to Alan Edwards and the evergreen Andrew Key. A mini collapse then saw Tows fall to 75-4 before James Edwards (53 not out), Adam Kelly (15) and Kevin Hawkins (14 not out) defied the Brigstock bowlers to earn a draw. Trevor Erskine (4-45) was the pick of the bowlers for Brigstock.

  • Towcestrians II earned a valuable 30 point victory at home against Great Oakley. Tows again lost the toss and were put in to bat. John English (65 not out) and Dave Roberts (46) made the highest contributions for the home team as a very strong Tows batting line-up notched up 203-7 declared from 44 over

  • Tows five-string bowling attack bowled with pace and accuracy and never allowed the Great Oakley batsmen to settle. Nick Howard (4-10) and Andy Cater (1-9) did the damage at the top of the order before James Cosford (4-17) and James Baldwin (1-9) sealed the win to allow Tows to edge a step further towards safety in Division 6 of the County League.
