Cycling: Bicester club riders' time trial results

THE latest club time trial for Bicester Millennium Club riders was staged around Weston-on-the-Green on April 29 in heavy rain and just 10 riders completed the seven lap course.
Results were: 1 Simon Baker 45:24; 2 Lee Goodman 46:10; 3 Michael Tarcing 47:19; 4 Tim Carey 50:07; 5 Mike Dempster 52:26; 6 Huw Davies 53:25; 7 Paul Bursnall 57:26; 8 Bob Hardman, 1:01:11; tandem, Mick Holliday and Steve Parnell 57:48.

Gareth Casburn's road racing success continued with a fifth place in the North Bucks Circuit race on April 26 and a second place at the MK Bowls race on May 1, earning him enough British Cycling points to obtain his third category racing licence. Junior member Robert Bowls also rode well in his first road race, finishing in 18th place.

Jon Sadler and Simon Baker raced in the Bath 10-mile TT near Cirencester on May 3, Sadler clocking 21:48 for 29th place out of 112 riders.
Baker achieved a personal best with a 22:05 for 44th place. They also raced in the Hillingdon 25-mile TT the following day in High Wycombe. Sadler clocked 57:43 for 22nd place and Baker a time of 58:20 for 29th place out of 66 finishers.

Claire Sadler raced in a Women's open 10-mile TT held near Coventry on May 3 and finished in fifth out of 31 ladies with a time of 26:48.
The second club time trial of the year at Weston on the Green on April 15 was held in cold and wet conditions, with only 11 club riders braving the elements for the 10 mile TT.
The men's times were: 1 Steve McKeever 25:36; 2 James Schofield 26:03; 3 Ian Owen 26:44; 4 Andy Burnett 27:08; 5 Paul Cox 27:30; 6 Clive Saunders 27:52; 7 Tim Carey 28:07; 8 Colin Cheeseman 28:41; 9 Paul Coyne 30:04.
The times for the women's TT were: 1 Marion Rickman 25:52; 2 Vicki Flemming 29:48.

On April 13 several BMCC riders rode in the off-road mountain bike event Hell of the North Cotswolds event in Winchcombe. Although it was dry on the day, the recent wet weather meant some gruelling riding.
Paul Cox, Jonathan Page and Kev Gear completed the 100km route with Mike Dempster completing the 50km route on a singlespeed mountain bike.
Claire Sadler raced in the women's Midlands series on April 16 with the opening round held at Leamington Spa. She finished fifth out of 20 ladies with a time of 26:42.

The third club 10-mile TT held on April 22 in contrast to the previous week was a lovely warm evening with some excellent times posted.
The top 10 men's results were: 1 Geoff Baines 23:34; 2 Jon Sadler 23:50; 3 Adrian Mason 24:07; 4 Jonathan Page 24:53; 5 Huw Davies 24:55; 6 Tim Willmer 25:07; 7 Paul Cox 25:35; 8 Vince Walker 25:38; 9 Ian Owen 25:43; 10 Tim Carey 26:13.
The women's results were: 1 Claire Sadler 26.38; 2 Linda Murray 36.04.
Paul Cox has been promoted to the sub 26 category in the 2008 league and Colin Cheeseman to the sub 28.

On April 26 Tim Carey raced in his first open TT of the year in the Oxford City 10 TT and posted a time of 25:04 for 42nd place. For more information, please visit www.bmcc2000.com.
