KEITH Newby grabbed a hat-trick as Buckingham Town beat 10-man Ampthill 3-1 at Ford Meadow on Wednesday (07/05) to book a place in the Senior Charity Cup final.
Buckingham dominated this second-leg semi-final against the South Midlands League Division One side, running out 5-3 aggregate winners.
Ben Clarke and Jeff Baffo were a real handful for the Ampthill defence all night with their darting, powerful runs, while Newby took all his goals well, two of them penalties.
After 40 minutes, Buckingham went ahead just before the break. Clarke went on a run down the left wing and delivered a low cross to Newby, who fired home from close range.
Three minutes later Newby hit his second from the penalty spot after Baffo was brought down in the Ampthill box.
Newby and Quinn were then involved in an altercation, which saw the Ampthill player red carded. Newby was also booked.
McAdoo kept out several goal-bound shots as the half ended 2-0 in Buckingham's favour.
Buckingham had a great chance to tie up the game just after the break when Reuben Max-Grant hesitated in front of goal from a Baffo cross and fired straight at the keeper. Christian Lester pulled a goal back for Ampthill after 75 minutes and then three minutes later Newby sealed victory with another penalty after Clarke was upended in the box.
