Football: Robins face Bicester test

BUCKINGHAM face a tough test at Hellenic League Premier Division side Bicester Town on Saturday (26/07), in their latest pre-season friendly.
The Robins have so far gone unbeaten in summer friendlies notching up two wins and two draws, the most recent against Newport Pagnell Town at home on Tuesday (22/07) where it ended all square at 1-1. UCL Division One side Buckingham scored through new signing Matt Clinch (pictured right) in the first half, the visitors levelling before the break.

Last Saturday Town beat neighbours Buckingham Athletic 2-1 in a closely fought game at Stratford Road for the Tony Howard Memorial Shield.

Clinch (ex-Stony Stratford) grabbed both goals against the South Midlands Division One side, one in the first half, the other with 15 minutes to go. Athletic rallied with a late consolation.

Both youth teams met earlier and a tight game ended 0-0, with the James Victory Cup shared by the sides.

Saturday's match against Bicester kicks off at 3pm.

Further Buckingham Town friendlies are: Tuesday, July 29 v New Bradwell (home), 7.45pm kick-off; Saturday, August 2 v Thame United (home), 3pm kick-off; Tuesday, August 5 v Stony Stratford Town (away), kick-off 7.45pm.

Town's youth team are in action on Saturday (26/07), against Luton Town's under-18 side, 11am kick-off. The Reserves face Tring Corinthians on Thursday, July 31 at home, kick-off 7.30/7.45pm.

Buckingham start their league programme on Saturday, August 9 with a home game against Peterborough North Star, kick off 3pm.

On Saturday, August 16 they start their FA Cup campaign with an extra preliminary round match at Witney United.

Club chairman Tony Rosenberg said: "Our challenge this year, our 125th, is to contend for promotion, see some further ground improvements, improve our finances and embed the club further in the heart of Buckingham town."
