BUCKINGHAM Town ended their league campaign with a 3-2 home victory against Bugbrooke St Michaels last Friday (02/05), the three points taking them into the top half of the United Counties League Division One table.
The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute from a Will Briscoe goal, but Buckingham responded almost immediately, with Ben Clarke's equaliser just two minutes later.

Bugbrooke took the lead for a second time just after the break, but the Robins again responded with a goal, this time from Geoff Baffo, who struck again in the 89th minute to give Buckingham the victory.

Buckingham finished in eighth spot in the table, 39 points adrift of runaway champions Daventry Town.

But Buckingham improved a great deal in the latter stages of the season and have the makings of a good side for the 2008/9 campaign.
Boss Tony Joyce has committed himself to the club again and hopes they can challenge for top honours.

He said: "We started off the season quite well, had a wobble in mid-season when we drew too many games and finished the campaign off with some good wins.

"We're more solid in defence, there's more pace in the side and the younger players have blended in well, so there's a lot to look forward to next season.

"The top two teams who have gone up were very good, but those below are certainly beatable. We hope to be challenging for honours."
