BRACKLEY Town boss Phil Lines is hopeful of a big performance from his side in Saturday's crunch FA Cup third round qualifying tie at Boreham Wood.
Saints are taking a coachload of 100 supporters to cheer on the team as they seek to progress further in the cup at the expense of the Hertfordshire Ryman League Premier division side.

The game comes on the back of a week of mixed fortunes for Saints, which saw them suffer a shock 3-0 defeat last Saturday against Swindon Supermarine in the league, before bouncing back with a 6-0 victory over Northampton Spencer on Tuesday in the Northants Hillier Cup.

Lines has a fit squad for Saturday, the only injury doubt being keeper Richard Knight, who suffered a slight groin strain in the game against Spencer. Tom Willshere will be on standby for Saturday's game, which kicks off at 3pm.

Lines said: "Boreham Wood are a good footballing side and it's going to be difficult, but I'm confident we can put in a big performance against them.

"Tuesday's win against Northampton Spencer was a good tonic for us after our disappointment against Swindon. We go into the game at Boreham with every chance."

In Saturday's home game against Swindon in the BGB Southern League Premier Division, Swindon led 1-0 in the first period through a 42nd minute strike from Draycott, who increased his tally to two goals after the break, with Griffin hitting an 85th minute winner.

Brackley played well in the first half, but were somewhat disappointing after the break as they slumped to their third league defeat of the season.

  • Club skipper Dave Savage has moved on after 18 months with Brackley and joined Oxford City.

  • Lines said about his former captain: "Our players are free to move on if they wish as they don't have contracts.

"Oxford made an approach and we gave them permission to speak to the player.

"Dave has done well for us and we wish him all the best in his new role at Oxford."
