Brackley Town grabbed their second win of the season as they saw off Cambridge City 2-0 on Saturday in the BGB Southern League Premier Division at St James Park.
In a rain-drenched match Saints went ahead in the 18th minute from a Ben Mackey penalty after Danny Spencer was brought down in the box.
Substitute Scott Hadland headed home for the second from a David Staff cross in the 73rd minute to seal victory.
Brackley keeper Richard Knight was again in outstanding form, making a fine save in the 82nd minute to deny Cambridge's Ramon Kalis. The win saw Saints climb into 11th place in the table.
There was more success for Buckingham Town at Northampton ON Chenecks as they won a thriller 4-3 in the UCL Division One to move into second spot. Keith Williams notched a hat-trick for the Robins and Joel McCormick was also on target.
Ardley United fought out a 2-2 home draw with fifth-placed Witney United in the FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division, but fellow Hellenic League Premiership side Bicester United crashed 5-1 at home to Wantage Town in the FA Vase first qualifying round.
In Division One East, Launton Sports slumped to a 5-0 defeat at Ascot United.
Winslow United continued their winning run with a 3-1 home win over Brache Sparta in the Molten Spartan South Midlands League Division One.
Padbury United fought bravely in the Challenge Trophy first round at home to Chalfont St Peter, but went down 5-3.
Mursley United enjoyed a 2-0 success at home in the same competition over Sun Postal Sports.
