A SENSATIONAL final lap from Lewis Hamilton in yesterday's qualifying session saw him take pole position for today's Canadian Grand Prix.
Hamilton snatched pole for McLaren an impressive six tenths of a second ahead BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica.
Kimi Raikonnen finished third for Ferrari, with Fernando Alonso a surprise fourth for Renault. Williams' Nico Rosberg in fifth made it five d
ifferent teams in the first five positions on the grid.
It was a disappointing day for Jenson Button, for Brackley-based Honda Racing, who dropped out with what proved to be a terminal gearbox failure. "I'm last anyway and I didn't get a lap in. It's been a tough weekend," admitted the British driver. Team-mate Rubens Barrichello battled into eighth spot.
Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella, for Silverstone team Force India, finished in 17th and 18th places respectively.
Several of the drivers had concerns about the track in Montreal breaking up during the qualifying sessions.
