Golf: Tight contests at Whittlebury

WHITTLEBURY Park Golf Club enjoyed a bank holiday weekend full of tightly contested golfing competitions.
The Grand Prix Cup was played for on Saturday and won by Patrick Fitzsimmons with 42 Stableford points, beating second placed David Wood on 39 points, with Jean-Michel Hall a further point behind.

Sunday saw the ladies compete for a place in the regional final of the Peugeot competition Foursomes.

Maureen Harmon and Jo Price won the honour of representing the club with 34 points, just beating Jan Lewis and Sandra Pearson on countback.
May Day sunshine saw teams compete in a Texas scramble competition for the Dick Travers Trophy.

The winning team was Butch Atkins, Peter Coles, Marcus McGrady and Christine Pearce with a fantastic score of net 59.1.

They were presented with their trophy by club captains Richard Allenby and Carole Kane.
