Hamilton on top after first practice in Germany

LEWIS Hamilton is on track for a second consecutive win after setting the fastest first practice time ahead of the German F1 Grand Prix on Sunday, July 20.
The 23-year-old McLaren-Mercedes driver was on top form today, Friday, following his masterful victory at Silverstone almost two weeks ago.
He recorded a fastest lap of one minute 15.54 seconds on the Hockenheim circuit, narrowly beating teammate Heikki Kovalainen, whose best time was one minute 15.67 seconds. Felipe Massa came in third in one minute 15.80 seconds.
Conditions mimicked those at Silverstone, where Hamilton's wet weather skills helped him to dominate.
Lewis Hamilton, Brazil's Felipe Massa and Finland's Kimi Räikkönen are all tied on 48 points in the drivers' championship.
Hamilton will aim to leave his rivals behind with victory in Germany, which would be his fourth win of the season.
Early forecasts predict showers throughout the weekend.
