Racing gets underway at Towcester once more this Tuesday evening (20/5) when the tapes fly up at 6.10pm.
A thrilling last month's action is in store in the battle to be leading trainer and jockey at the track for the 2007/08 season.
After Tuesday's meeting there are only two more fixtures before Towcester takes a summer break and it will come as no sur
prise to any regular visitors to learn that the names of Jonjo O'Neill and Tony McCoy are firmly in the frame. There is already no doubt that the famous green and orange coloured hooped silks of J.P. McManus will be the most represented in the winner's enclosure.
On six occasions this season, horses owned by high profile owner McManus have been successful at Towcester, five of them trained by O'Neill and one, Kerriemuir Lass, a winner over hurdles on April 9, saddled by Brendan Powell.
Six is also the number of winning rides which master craftsman McCoy has enjoyed at Towcester during 2007/08, but curiously only two of them, Felinious and SunAlliance Chase winner Albertas Run back on October 10, have been for O'Neill who has also used Richie McLernon and Richard McGrath in reaching a total of eight wins.
The fact that McCoy is level pegging with Mark Bradburne on six wins may surprise some punters but of course the champion jockey's services are often required elsewhere while Bradburne has been a standing dish at the course, having also ridden 11 winners at Towcester during the previous two seasons. Jason Maguire is third in the Towcester standings, with five wins at the course in the current campaign.
After next Tuesday's card, the remaining two meetings at Towcester before the summer break are on May 30 and June 19.
