BUCKINGHAM moved up to sixth place in the South West 1 East League after battling to a 28-9 win at Marlow. This Saturday they host Oakmeadians.
If there was ever an excuse to use football parlance, then Saturday's game at Marlow was without doubt a game of two halves.

Buckingham, who had been leaking penalties and lost two players yellow carded by half time, suddenly found their belief 15 minutes into the second half when Colver's second penalty got them within three points of Marlow's nine.
In view of all that had gone before this in itself was amazing.

Marlow were three points up within eight minutes and had double their score by 15 minutes as Buckingham gave away penalty after penalty, mostly through basic errors.
The big home eight were bossing the visitors throughout with Buckingham backs' meagre supply of ball making scoring chances few and far between.

With the stream of penalties it was inevitable a yellow card would be shown and Amos was somewhat unlucky to be the chosen one.

With the score at 9-0 Buckingham endured a series of scrums and line outs on their own try line but their forwards performed magnificently to keep Marlow at bay until Amos returned.

Almost immediately Buckingham worked their way into the Marlow 22 when the home side gave away only their third penalty for Colver's kick to make it 9-3.

Bad followed good however with Tompkinson's yellow card two minutes before half time leaving Buckingham knowing they would start the second half one player short.

Buckingham gave away few more early penalties before Tompkinson returned, but managed to stem the Marlow attacks once again with ferocious tackles and astute kicking by White who played extremely well and Cowan at scrum half, who had probably his best game of the season.

Fifteen minutes into the half the big Marlow forwards began to blow as they received their first yellow card and Colver made it 9-6.

Then a kick ahead by Hartnett down the right caught the Marlow full back in two minds and Lee chasing up caught him in possession, Hartnett gathered the loose ball to run from the 22 and score in the corner.

Marlow were now visibly wilting and after Colver had gone close with two long range penalties, a good drive by the forwards put Marlow on the back foot once again.

Cowan made a sniping break before offloading to Laird who charged his way through some feeble tackles to score by the posts, Colver making it 18-9 to the visitors.

Another Colver penalty put them further ahead after more pressure. the backline were now showing why they are as good as any in the league and another sweeping move set Bernard free on the left.

A neat chip ahead took him through the defence and he gathered the ball before drawing the full back and passing to centre Jackson steaming up on his inside to score, Colver converting to make it 28-9 and am amazing turnround.

Buckingham must look to this Saturday's home game against Oakmeadians with confidence having won the away game by one point in the autumn.
