A NEW-LOOK Towcestrians side, fielding three new players making their first team debuts, eventually shook off Leicester to edge home narrow 12-10 winners last Saturday.
Tows exerted all the early pressure and with the home side penned on their own goal line, the Tows forwards drove over looking to score.

After several attempts, flanker Joe Threlfall got the touch down and the start Tows needed. A series of pena
lties against Tows then put the home side back into the game as their fly half Roux slotted a penalty to open their account.

Matt Bodily returned to the Tows side and in one move late in the half he characteristically burst through several tackles to score under the posts.

With Jamie King adding the conversion, it took Tows into half time 12-3 ahead.

Tows faced the wind and the slope in the second half and Leicester Forest eventually got the start they wanted as Roux skipped through to convert his own try.

Tows debutants Cave and Hopewell showed nice touches, and Tows continued to frustrate Forest who pressed ever harder to secure the advantage.

Injuries to Tows back row players allowed a third debutant player Josh Taylor onto the field, and his contribution was vital in the last 10 minutes of the game as he tackled well and turned over several crucial balls.

Despite Leicester Forest pressure, Tows – now fielding four Colts' players – showed good determination to hold on and secure an important away league win in a game they could easily have lost.

This weekend Tows host Old Northamptonians Ist XV, kick-off 3pm.

Tows II saw off Leighton Buzzard II 19-0 last Saturday. A fine game from full-back Jon Pitt, who scored a brace of tries, supported by a Darren Snook try, plus two conversions from skipper Chris Dodds, gave Tows the win.

There was no joy however for newly promoted Tows III as they went down 38-3 at Daventry II.

Tows IV lost 46-22 at home to Leighton Buzzard IV. Tows scorers were 'Mac' McKay, Stuart Hardy, Lee Doran (with a fine individual try), John O'Shea – who also added a conversion.

Tows Colts overwhelmed Long Buckby Colts 73-0 last weekend. Scorers were: Tries, Charlie Green (4), Tom Millican (3), Zac Osborne-Wright (2), Charlie Moulton, Nathan Payne, Martin Harvey, Brandon Kerr. Conversions, Martin Harvey (2), Brandon Kerr (2).
