MORETONVILLE Rangers under-13s scored a resounding 6-1 win over MK Wanderers at the weekend to take the Milton Keynes and District Division One title.
Knowing all they needed was a point to win the title, Rangers made a nervous start, but they really got into their stride after Ollie McCabe headed a great goal on six minutes from a superb Cam Davies free kick.

Two minutes later Haydn Goodwin played a fine ball through to Dan Staley who went past three players to make it 2-0. Tom Blake added number three just before half time following some good work from Glen Tuxford and Haydn Goodwin.

In the second half, Rangers were dominant all over the pitch and Paul Mundy added two further goals along with a diving header from Jamie Pollard to make it six. MK Wanderers got a consolation goal just before the end but by then the sizeable crowd sensed the Division One title was coming back to Moretonville.

The final whistle blew to scenes of great celebration.

Manager Pat McCabe said afterwards: "Rangers have now won Division One title for the second time in four years. We are also about to play the final of the Citizen Cup this Sunday at Stadium MK.

"The boys have bounced back from a rocky start when we lost two out of our first three games.

"To get to the position the team are in today is a testimony to their competency and character."

He added: "If anyone is around this Sunday (May 18) and can make it to the MK Dons Stadium for the 10am kick-off, it would be great to see a big turn out from Buckingham."

  • Moretonville Tornados under-12s played two games in four days and came away with all the points.

  • Last Thursday night they beat Brook End Colts away from home 4-3, goals coming from James Lund(2), an own goal and one from man of the match George Ford.

On Sunday they travelled to Leighton Corinthians Wildcats and came away 3-0 winners, George Ford (1) and James Lund (2) netting.

Man of the match went to Joe Rushton for a tireless performance.
The good run of results sees Tornados sitting third in the league with two games to go.
