Youth football: Waugh nets brace as Ville under-14s sweep to a win

MORETONVILLE under-14 Girls Robins got their league campaign under way with a hard-fought 2-0 win against MK City Diamonds at the weekend.
Ville's Charlie Waugh netted a brace in the first half with strikes from just inside the box. The second half was more even and goalkeeper Lauren Luetchford pulled off a string of fine stops including a penalty save. Mollie Marshall was player of the match.

Moretonville under-12s Girls Royals trounced their younger local rivals, Ville Magpies, 13-0. Goals from Coran Foote (4), Jess Jordan (3), Maddie Hooper (2), Ellie Powles, Chelsea Markwell, Emma Mundy and Lizzie Downhill ensured their first victory of the season. Tilly Myhill was player of the match for Royals and Isabel Griffiths for the Magpies.

Moretonville under-10 Girls Juniors ran out 12-3 winners over MK City Gems. Katie Maddox scored a six-timer in the first half as Juniors led 6-2. Sam Abbot came out of goal in the second half to score a hat-trick, followed by another three goals from Maddox.

Willen Juniors Eagles beat Moretonville under-9s Rovers 4-1. Rovers opened the scoring after 15 minutes through Luke McAndrew, but Willen hit back with three goals.

Moretonville under-11s Wanderers were sunk 6-0 by Woburn Lions Whirlwinds. They conceded two early goals and despite good work in attack late on by Dan Chinn, George Glinski and Billy Harper, Lions added further goals. James Hughes was man of the match for Ville.

Moretonville Wanderers under-13s fought out a 5-5 draw with Scot Youth under-13s. Ville went 1-0 up through Henry Jones, who slotted home at the near post from a corner. Scott hit back with two excellent goals to lead 2-1 only for Jones to score again, making the half time score 2-2.
The second half saw Wanderers going 3-2 up with James Lund netting, only for Scott to hit back with three quick goals to lead 5-3. With only minutes left Wanderers scored twice through Luke Taverner and James Lund to earn the draw. Man of the match was Wesley Iroegbu. Ville's James Foster and Henry Jones, son of manager Jerry, have been taken on by Luton Town FC's Performance Centre, while Ryan Freshwater has been recruited by Aston Villa on a two-year contract.

Brackley Athletic under-8s enjoyed a 7-2 success against Brookfield Ospreys. mna of the match Ben Purnell scored four goals, aided by strikes from Tom may, Ollie Franklin and Emma Marshall.
