Youth football: Youngsters aid 'Respect' campaign

HALSE United youngsters are helping to promote the FA's Respect Campaign in a link-up with the MK Dons.
The nationwide initiative is aimed at promoting fair play and respect between players, officials and supporters.
The MK Dons embraced the initiative as part of their drive to become a Community Standard Club and petitioned the English and Berks & Bucks FA to use the two Milton Keynes-based youth leagues as the 'poster child' for the national campaign at grassroots' level.
Halse United under-11s (formerly Syresham Youth FC) beat more than 80 other teams to win the 2007/08 under-10s Fair Play Award, while also winning their league, a feat that has only been achieved three times in the 20-plus year history of the MK & District Junior 7s league.
The teams who won the 2007/08 Fair Play Award at each age group sent their team captains along to the Dons' MK Stadium recently to have their photographs taken for use in support of the Respect campaign.
Halse captain Jamie Franks attended the photo-shoot along with 11 other winning captains and was able to meet Dons' captain Dean Lewington.
The photos taken on the day will appear in various promotional campaigns including match-day programmes, football roadshows and the various FA and League websites.
The Halse players who won the 2007/08 award were: Seb Balch, Sam Childerley, Luke Courtney-Clack, Liam Fowler, Jamie Franks, Robert Gibson, Reif Greatbatch, Jack Norris, Dan Pattinson, Oliver Read, Ben Wilson and Max Woodard-Knight.
