Some of Northamptonshire’s most esteemed authors form the centrepiece of the county’s youngest literary festival when it returns to Helmdon in August.
The second not-for-profit Bookmarks Festival on Sunday, August 25, offers a range of literary attractions completely free of charge.
The highlight will be appearances from notable writers Adrian Magson, Alison McQueen and Garry O’Connor, pictured. The trio will be reading from their work, taking part in a question and answer session and signing copies of their books.
While the festival aims to celebrate existing work with a connection to the county, fledgling authors are also being encouraged to put fingers to keyboard for a creative writing competition. The top prize is £50 of National Book Tokens.
There will also be books to buy, literary-related stalls, competitions, refreshments and much more. The festival will be raising funds for the Syrian humanitarian charity Hand In Hand For Syria, a non-political UK-based organisation providing care and medical aid for Syrian refugees. Organisers are also looking for sponsors and donations of second-hand books.
