PUPILS from Great Horwood CofE Combined School showed their love of reading by dressing up as book characters for World Book Day last Thursday.

Headteacher Janet Hatfield said: “It was good fun. In order to celebrate World Book Day, we had a week when we particularly concentrated on books.”

On World Book Day itself, about 14 staff and more than 100 children dressed up, and each class had a competition for the most creative costume.

On the Friday, grandparents were invited into school for a shared reading session, and in the final assembly each class gave a presentation of the week’s work. “It was a really good week,” said Miss Hatfield.
