MPs from Bucks welcomed some of the best food and drink from across the county at the Chilterns and Aylesbury Vale food day, held in the House of Commons.

Aylesbury MP David Lidington, Buckingham MP and Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow and Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan invited food and drink producers from their constituencies to exhibit their produce.

The idea was to allow fellow MPs a chance to see the range of produce on offer, while also encouraging people across the country to think about Bucks as a great place to visit.

The companies that visited from the Aylesbury constituency were Aylesbury Escargots, a snail farm in Abbey Road, Number 2 Pound Street, a delicatessen in Wendover, Rumsey’s Chocolates at the Old Bank in Wendover High Street and Beechdean Farmhouse Dairy Ice Cream of Old House Farm, North Dean near High Wycombe.

Mr Lidington MP said: “It was very good to welcome local food businesses to Westminster for the Chilterns and Aylesbury Vale food day at the House of Commons. “The wide range of goods being promoted showcased the wonderful food and drink available in Buckinghamshire and several hundred people came along to sample them.

“Buckinghamshire produces some of the best food in the country.

“It was good to be able to share that secret with so many colleagues this week.”

Buckingham MP John Bercow welcomed Natural Balance Foods to the event, a company that produces a range of healthy snack bars.

Mr Bercow said: “I was delighted to welcome Jamie Combs and Andi Summer from Natural Balance Foods to parliament.

“The company, which sells its products across the country, is testament to how Buckinghamshire is a great place to base a business.”

Two businesses from the Chesham and Amersham constituency were also featured, Malt the Brewery, based in Prestwood and Chiltern Ridge based in Chartridge.
