Overnight closures of the A43 dual carriageway through south Northants will continue this week as work costing £450,000 is carried out to repair potholes.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said they had bought forward planned work after severe weather had sped up the normal rate of ware to the road surface.
He said: “We will be bringing forward further schemes as part of our programme during the next financial year to address further sections of the A43.
“In the meantime our managing agents are carrying out regular patrols and will complete safety critical repairs as necessary.”
Work began just after 8pm on Thursday, March 14, when a 12 mile stretch of the southbound carriageway between Towcester and the Barley Mow roundabout near Evenley was fully closed until 6am Friday morning.
The work continues as follows:
15 March - Single night closure of the northbound carriageway between Buckingham Road roundabout and the Abthorpe roundabout.
18 March - Three night closure of the southbound carriageway between Towcester and Barley Mow roundabout for works around Brackley.
21 March - Two night closure of the southbound carriageway from M1 junction 15a to Towcester for works around Hulcote.
22 March: Six night closure of southbound carriageway from Barley Mow roundabout to Baynards Green roundabout for works at Tusmore.
All dates will be subject to weather conditions and diversions will be clearly signposted.
