Eric Malcomson, chairman of the Tove Valley Communities Superfast Broadband Service, has been voted Talk Talk Digital Hero for the East Midlands.

Mr Malcomson will be receiving £5,000 from Talk Talk to be used to connect all the community halls in the Tove Valley operating area to superfast broadband.

He will be attending the national finals at the House of Commons next month where the 12 regional winners will be judged by a panel that includes Talk Talk chairman Sir Charles Dunstone, UK Digital Champion Martha Lane Fox and Mirror editor-in-chief Lloyd Embley. The overall winner will receive an extra £5,000 towards their project.

The organisers will be commissioning a film about the broadband project that first began over 10 years ago in the New Inn, in Abthorpe. The film will be shown at the ceremony and will later be available for local people to view.
