Former Apprentice star Katie Wright was on the other side of the boardroom table this week as she went back to her old school to plant the seed of enterprise.

On Monday, she joined around 40 Brackley business leaders acting as mentors during the annual Dragons’ Den-style event at Magdalen College School.

Groups of students were asked to come up with a product or event which would raise awareness and, or, funds for a charity. Nine of the mentors went on to act as judges, and their decision to select Team 9 (mentored by Brackley Town Council’s Kath Bonner-Dunham) as the winners was backed up by a poll of students.

Katie said: “I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of a business case but the finalists all came up with pricing and how much they expected to make. And their presentations were great. But to think they were 13 or 14 years old and they were stood in front of local businessmen and their school friends delivering a professional speech, was amazing.”
