Arsonists target vehicles in Bicester

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following five arsons in Bicester on Friday night (18/6), which officers believe are linked.

Three were committed in Thames Avenue, Greenwood, between 11pm and 11.15pm. A 40-year-old man's silver Ford Mondeo, a 25-year-old man's blue BMW and a hedge were all set on fire.

Another two were committed in Kings Meadow at around 11.20pm. One in Longfellow Close, where a 60-year-old man had his blue Vauxhall Vectra attacked, and another in Scott Close, where a 55-year-old woman had her blue Toyota Estima set on fire.

Insp Paul Halstead, neighbourhood policing lead in Bicester, said: "These attacks have caused significant damage to all four cars involved. They do not appear to be aimed at anyone specifically and I would like to ask the community to remain vigilant.

"We will be conducting increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance and deter any further incidents. Our investigations are ongoing but we do believe that these attacks are linked.

"We will be speaking to any potential witnesses, so I am appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and contact me."

If you have any information about this incident, please call the 24-hour non-emergency number, 08458 505505. If you don't want to speak to police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
