A Tingewick artist has had her work selected for an exhibition in her native Manchester.
Cathy Read is one of 12 artists chosen to participate in the Manchester In Art exhibition, which is at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel until January 24. Sixty works of art inspired by the city are hanging in the hotel’s lobby, lounges and cafe.
After revisiting central Manchester after the 1996 bombing and subsequent rebuild, Ms Read was impressed with the way the area had been revitalised.
She said: “What was once a run-down, drab but busy area full of cars is now a beautiful, thriving environment where people were enjoying life.”
After work inspired by Manchester and Milton Keynes, her latest work focuses on London architecture.
