THERE’s a chance to cheer on some charity runners while enjoying cakes and refreshments and raising money for charity tomorrow, Saturday, in Gawcott, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Gawcott mother-of-seven Sarah Cassidy ran the London Marathon for the first time last year, and she’s doing it again this year for local charity Alec’s Angels. At a similar pre-Marathon event last year, 26 people each ran a mile for charity for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent. This year, up to 50 people of all ages will be running or walking. One woman who has broken her leg is being pushed in a wheelchair.
Ms Cassidy said all seven of her children are taking part in tomorrow’s event, with even her youngest, three-year-old Flynn, doing part of a mile. Her eldest son, Ben, aged 18, will be running the Marathon beside her next month.
Tomorrow’s run sets off from Gawcott Methodist Chapel at 10.30am.
