TWO Bicester artists have won places in this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Ben Clarke, from Crumps Butts, and Alexandra Olding, from Bucknell Road, will join thousands of artists from around the country in what has become the world’s largest open-submission contemporary show.

Running from June 4 until August 12 at Burlington House in Piccadilly, London, the Summer Exhibition is now in its 244th year.

More than 11,000 works of art will be included, ranging from paintings, prints and photos to sculpture and architecture.

Mrs Olding, who also uses her maiden name Alexandra Buckle, produces pieces of jewellery, paintings and linocuts.

The Buckingham Art School student has submitted two prints this year – Sunlight Through Redwoods and Japanese Tea Garden.

Work by Charlton-on-Otmoor artist Jane Dowling can also be seen in this year’s event.
