Staff at Specsavers Opticians in Bicester are preparing to welcome a six-strong cycling team tomorrow, Friday, as they finish the first leg of a 420-mile Birmingham to Paris bike ride.

The Red Windmills Cycling Team, which includes Specsavers Solihull store director Spencer Parkes, are due to finish the first leg at 5pm, having set off from Birmingham at 10.30am.

The team is hoping to raise £5,000 for three charities – Round Table Children’s Wish, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Diabetes UK.

Bicester’s store director Sarah Marshall will donate £250 to the appeal.

She said: “No doubt there will be some sore legs when they pedal into town but we’ll be on hand to show our support and ensure they are fully fuelled ready to take on the second leg the very next day.”

Residents are encouraged to join staff in welcoming the team.
