COUNTY safety bosses are set to apply for Government cash to make dangerous road junctions safer for cyclists.

The Department for Transport has £15million available for improvements at junctions where cyclists have been killed or seriously injured.

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) aims to make a bid later this year.

OCC member for transport, Councillor Rodney Rose, said: “We can’t say at this stage which locations or schemes we’ll be putting forward for funding but our officers are going to be looking in detail at all junctions with a significant accident history and those which are known to present particular problems for cyclists.”
