A village blitz will target graffiti, flytips and dog fouling to make the area cleaner and greener.

Langford Village, in Bicester, is staging the latest of the five-day neighbourhood clean ups by Cherwell District Council’s green team.

From tomorrow, Monday, residents will benefit from a free bulky waste collection and cheaper blue bins, down from £18 to £10.

Then on Thursday, June 26, a host of freebies can be picked up from a recycling roadshow at Langford Village Shopping Centre, between 3pm and 5pm.

Tony Ilott, lead member for clean and green, said: “Our green team works hard to keep the streets clean every day. But just like household chores, sometimes this needs ‘topping up’ with a deep clean and the blitz does just that.”

The blitz will run from tomorrow until Friday during which time residents can apply for up to three bulky waste items – including white goods and furniture – to be collected from their homes free of charge.
