A COUPLE from Brackley were given ringside seats during last months celebrations in London marking one year to go to the Olympics.
Rene and Carman Bateman of Waynflete Avenue won the invite to the capital after entering a competition run by Eurostar.
They saw first hand how the 2012 venues were progressing before enjoying dinner overlooking the Olympic Stadium. Silver medal winning Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson also entertained the 20 Eurostar winners during his after dinner speech.
The couple began their tour after arriving at the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras.
Mrs Bateman said it had been a day to remember and added: “To go from there to and then see the Olympic Stadium and see how impressive it is was great and I really enjoyed the dinner overlooking the stadium.”
Eurostar are expecting to ferry hundreds of thousands from the continent next year.
