A COUPLE in Brackley are doing their bit to make the town a brighter place after winning the Brackley in Bloom Competition.

On Monday evening Mike and Ceinwen Barlow of Westminster Croft were presented with a certificate by Bacley Mayor Chris Cartmell.

He said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition and praise them for all of their hard work in putting on such a good show, despite the very poor weather which we all had to endure throughout the May/June period.”

Mr Barlow said: “We were very pleased to get the award, my wife is the creative one really, I just get to do the heavy lifting and I get the vegetable patch.

“But we don’t do it for any awards, we do it because we enjoy, so it is a bonus. We just hope it might encourage people in Brackley to make it a brighter place.”

Alongside Mr and Mrs Barlow those entrants presented with highly commended certificates by the Mayor were; Bridgewater House Gardening Club, Mr W Pocock, Mrs R Pratt, Mr & Mrs D Estall, Mr & Mrs M Lee, and Mr & Mrs J Crowshaw.
