THE Swan at Great Horwood is holding a karaoke competition to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research.

There will be two heats, the first of which is tomorrow, Friday, and the second on Friday, July 29. The final is held on Friday, August 5.

The brewery, Charles Wells, has said it will match the monies made from the competition.

To book a place, call landlady Kate Rowledge on 01296 712556 or just turn up on the night to compete.

The competition will start at 7.30pm each Friday night.

Earlier this month, actress Sheila Hancock was guest of honour at the launch of the South of England Brain Tumour Alliance (SEBTA), which brings together a number of brain tumour research centres in the south of England.

Ms Hancock is patron of Padbury-based brain tumour charity Ali’s Dream and is also chancellor of the University of Portsmouth.

The new Alliance is led by Geoff Pilkington, Professor of Cellular and Molecular Neuro-oncology at the University of Portsmouth.
