PARENT power has won out after a u-turn on plans to axe the morning crossing patrol at Bourton Meadow School, in Buckingham.
Bucks County Council had included plans to cut funding for patrols across the county in its budget, leaving schools or volunteers to provide the services instead from April 2012.
More than 280 people, including parents of children at the school, signed a petition to keep the crossing patrol and at a county council meeting on Thursday last week, councillors made the decision not to cut funding after all.
Jackie Russell, one of the campaigners for the crossing, said: “All the parents are thrilled and pleased. We are thrilled for Tony, the patroller, too. It has made all our work worthwhile and shows it is worth having a voice.”
