An aerospace manufacturer with facilities in Buckingham has grown from 200 UK-based employees to more than 450 in the past two years thanks to increasing international demand and links with China.

Sigma Components, which forms Avingtrans PLC’s aerospace division, makes components for aircraft engines, airframes and aircraft interiors at sites in Hinckley, Buckingham, Farnborough, Sandiacre and Derby. It also employs almost 150 people in Chengdu, China.

Founder and managing director Mark Johnson said he was delighted with the company’s performance, adding: “While the aerospace industry is, by its nature, a global business, our vision has always been to work closely with our customers at a local level; providing them with agility, speed and the benefits of a local supplier while linking in to a low-cost global manufacturing capability.”
