BUCKS County Council’s cabinet has agreed to sign a £275million contract for a waste incinerator near Calvert.
The contract was awarded this morning to FCC Environment, formerly known as Waste Recycling Group (WRG).
The firm had won planning permission for the 300,000-tonne-per-year scheme in April.
Bucks County Council says the contract will save taxpayers more than £150million over its 30-year life.
The contract is due to be signed at the end of the summer following its approval by the full council.
The incinerator could be operational by 2015.
