Aylesbury Vale District Council is reminding residents to look before they book meals this Christmas.
The council is advising people to check out the hygiene ratings of restaurants before committing to having their Christmas meals there.
The ratings are determined by local authority food safety officers and run from zero to five, with a rating of five meaning a very good level of food hygiene.
1,109 Aylesbury Vale food businesses have scored a rating of three or above - with 695 of these awarded the top score of five.
Councillor Sir Beville Stanier, cabinet member for environment and health said: “Christmas is a busy time for local restaurants, cafes and pubs and with the majority of the food businesses in the district rated three or above, people really will be spoiled for choice.
“The food hygiene rating scheme makes it easier for everyone when it comes to choosing where they eat out.”
