Counties to merge plans for broadband procurement

A BROADBAND plan for Bucks could be ready by autumn.

Bucks Business First (BBF), a group set up last year by business leaders to ensure the continued economic success of the county, has been working on plans to reach all businesses and homes in the county with broadband of at least 2Mb/sec and up to 40Mb/sec, with the support of Bucks County Council (BCC).

BBF has been in talks with Broadband Delivery UK, which heads up government plans for broadband rollout across the UK. It has confirmed government support of about £2 million towards the cost of high-speed broadband in Bucks, in partnership with commercial broadband providers.

A new move to merge plans and procurement processes with Herts should speed broadband development in both counties.
