Fish stallholder to pack up shop in Buckingham after 33 years

A stallholder who has been running a fish stall in Buckingham’s market for the past 33 years will be saying goodbye to his customers after his last market today, Tuesday.

Trevor Capell, 58, has been running his fish stall in Buckingham every Tuesday for the past 33 years, taking over the business in 1978.

His father had previously run the stall in town from 1947, but Mr Capell, who is based in Northampton, has been forced to shut up shop due to the economic downturn, not enough trade from the market and finding it difficult to commute to Buckingham each week.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Mr Capell said: “There is no criticism of Buckingham. I love Buckingham and I have so much affection for the town. The residents are lovely people, just super. That’s the wrench.”
