More than 20 businesses will display products and services in the first Oxfordshire Green Construction Showcase in Bicester on Wednesday, February 20.

The free event is an ideal opportunity to see what the county has to offer in terms of green construction.

Running from 9.30am to 8pm in the John Paul II Centre in The Causeway, the showcase is aimed at builders, traders, architects, engineers, facilities managers and anyone else interested in the burgeoning marketplace.

Ben Jackson, editor of Sustainable Building Matters, said: “The importance of the construction sector in regards to keeping the UK competitive cannot be underestimated.

“Around the world the carbon footprint of businesses and property are being reduced to contain running costs; the UK must convert to a low-carbon economy to remain competitive.

“This event is an opportunity for Oxfordshire businesses and organisations to see how they can not only remain competitive, but do so using local suppliers.”

The morning session is aimed at commercial property agents and owners, as well as social housing organisations.

Presentations will outline benefits and opportunities, such as new build approaches and identifying energy loss locations.

The afternoon and early evening will focus on the construction sector, with presentations highlighting commercial opportunities.

Visitors will also get a chance to network, and to sample local ales from the Vale Brewery Co from noon onwards.

Guests can register for the event at www.oxongreenconstructionshowcase-estw.eventbrite.co.uk.
