A family-run furnishings firm celebrated 35years in the business last weekend with open days.

Lawrence Furnishings, on Buckingham Road Industrial Estate, in Brackley, invited members of the public and mayor Peter Rawlinson along to take a closer look at their workshop.

The business was formed by brothers Graham and Mark Lawrence in 1978 as G and M Lawrence Furnishings.

The company makes and sells soft furnishings, home interiors, and bespoke furniture as well as restoring and upholstering furniture.

When Graham Lawrence retired in 2006, Mark and Valerie Lawrence took over and changed the name to Lawrence Furnishings.

They also moved the showroom, which was formerly on the corner of Banbury Road, to the existing workshop on the industrial estate.

Mr Lawrence said: “We are still very proud to still be producing British re-upholstery, new bespoke furniture and window dressings.

“A lot of things have changed in the last 35 years, but we still complete projects using the same traditional methods as we did 35 years ago.”

The firm has a workforce of ten in-house qualified upholsters and curtain makers.

Mrs Lawrence said: “I call us the furniture hospital as now we have everything under one roof and our customers love the fact they can freely go through to the workshop and have an insight in what we do here.”

She added the team had fun on the open day and wanted to thank everyone for their support.
