There is a tweet in store for district residents who want to keep an eye on their local authority.

Last week South Northants Council was launched on the social networking site Twitter under the username SNorthantsC.

Twitter users will receive a tweet, or notification, every time SNC updates the news section on its website. The system will also be used to alert people of emergencies such as bin collections missed as a result of bad weather.

The council’s portfolio holder for community engagement, councillor Andrew Wilby, said: “Not only can residents see council updates, find out about things going on in the district and get up-to-date information about our services, but people can also post tweets back to the council and interact with us. We will be updating on Twitter in the event of adverse weather conditions or other situations as well.”
