An Abthorpe resident has been nominated for a TalkTalk Digital Heroes Award.

Eric Malcomson, chairman of the Tove Valley Communities Superfast Broadband Service, was nominated by MP for south Northants, Andrea Leadsom, in recognition of his work to bring super-fast broadband into rural south Northants. He is on a shortlist of three in the East Midlands category and could win £5,000.

Eric said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated for this award. It reflects the hard work and effort of many people in our community who have given freely of their time to make this work. A £5,000 award would ensure that we install free wi-fi in all our village halls and meeting rooms.”

If Eric ends up in the national judging round, Tove Valley Broadband could win £5,000 to help develop its network.
