ONE of the sponsors of prestigious business awards has spoken out to encourage firms to pull out the stops and enter.

Mirus IT Solutions is sponsoring the Business of the Year (£1m-£5m) Award at the Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards 2011.

The IT services company, based in Sunrise Parkway, Linford Wood, won the award for Excellence in Customer Care at last year’s awards and say it did the business a power of good.

Paul Tomlinson, Mirus’s Managing Director said: “Obviously winning the award last year gave our business a huge boost and gave us further encouragement that our chosen business model was the right one going forward.

“One of the other interesting points to note is the review of your own business that the application process forces you to undertake, with the application raising interesting questions that highlight things you could do better as an organisation. I would whole heartedly encourage all businesses to take part in the 2011 awards.”

Mirus has offices in London, Northampton and even South Africa as well as Milton Keynes. It is a major provider of IT services, from small businesses needing advice and guidance for future planning to larger organisations that are looking to outsource their entire IT function to a third party. The company employs more than 60 people most of those technically focused.

Mr Tomlinson added: “There are so many great businesses in Milton Keynes and North Bucks within this category that I expect it to be hotly contested and a really difficult decision for the judging panel.

“Good luck to all those that enter and we look forward to meeting you at the awards ceremony in October. “
