A WEBSITE which asks visitors to vote in the first parliamentary beauty contest has been called surreal by one of the Advertiser and Review’s MPs.

The website, http://sexymp.co.uk, which was created by London socialite Francis Boulle, presents you with two MPs and asks you to choose the most appealing.

Rankings were changing rapidly this week after the website was reported in the national press.

At time of going to press, MP John Bercow was ranked 154, ahead of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown while Bicester MP Tony Baldry was 308th. South Northants MP Andrea Leadsom ranked at 389.

Speaking to the Advertiser and Review, Mr Baldry, said: “The definition of surreal is when you’re running neck and neck with Dennis Skinner in the sexiest MP stakes.”

Mr Bercow was flattered, adding: “I didn’t know anything about the site. I would not expect to rank highly. If I am at 154 I would say that represents an extreme generosity on the part of the voting public. It is a very compassionate consideration on their part.”

South Northants MP Andrea Leadsom said she had not seen the site and could not comment.
