Parking costs set to rise if budget agreed

PARKING HIKE: Charges in Buckingham’s Cornwall’s Meadow car park are set to go up from April if budget proposals are agreed by Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC).

The measure is one of many recommendations designed to balance the budget in the new financial year. If agreed, parking charges for one to two hours will go up from 30p to 50p, while the rate for two to three hours will go up from 50p to 70p.

AVDC is facing a loss of £77,500 income for on-street parking enforcement in the coming year, after Bucks County Council decided to award the contract for the whole county to a private contractor instead.

The draft budget is due to go to AVDC’s full council for approval on February 1.
