Children from Southwold School in Bicester were guests at the relaunch of a local store following a £187,000 revamp.

The Co-op store in Bassett Avenue is the school’s closest shop and post office, and children were invited along to help greet the store’s first customers and hand out tasty treats at the end of term.

Southwold School headteacher Anna Ballance said: “The store gave them some lovely goodie bags with Easter eggs, and children gave out cakes to some of the first customers through the doors.

“It was a nice treat for the children at the end of term.”

The relaunched Midcounties Co-operative store has doubled the size of its fresh food range and its number of chillers as part of a new layout. Breads and cakes are also available from an in-store bakery.
